Make, change or cancel an appointment

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday)

  • Use the NHS App or patient access online to book an appointment
  • Phone us Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm
  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm
  • Emergency only calls can be made from 8.00am – 8.30am on a morning. Any routine queries received, during this time, will be instructed to phone back after 8.30am.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

 

To request a routine appointment in the next 14 days

  • Use an online form 24/7 to request an appointment. We will respond within 24 hours when we are open. We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm
  • Use the NHS App or patient access online to book an appointment or to:
    • contact us for advice and support
    • order repeat prescriptions
    • view your health record, including information about medicines, vaccinations and test results
    • see communications between your GP surgery and other services, such as hospitals
  • Phone us Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm
  • Use the nonurgent voicemail for general enquiries (not appointments). Leave a voicemail when prompted, you will be contacted within 24 hrs.
  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • By phone
  • Face to face at the surgery
  • On a video call
  • By text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

 

Cancelling or changing an appointment

Please notify the practice as soon as possible if you cannot attend your appointment, so that it can be offered to another patient. We are unable to cancel appointments with less than 30minutes notice.

  • Use the NHS App or  patient access online. Please do not use this option if your appointment is today or on a Friday evening for a Monday, as the surgery is closed.
  • Phone us Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm
  • Replying to your text message reminder with ‘Cancel’
  • Use nonurgent voicemail by leaving a message when prompted. Please do not use this option if your appointment is today or on a Friday evening for a Monday, as the surgery is closed.
  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm

 

If you need help when we are closed

  • For urgent medical help – visit 111 online or call 111 if you’re unable to get help online.
  • For life-threatening emergencies – call 999 for an ambulance
  • For appointments outside of core surgery hours – use extended access. Evening and weekend appointments are available at our surgery and in our central hub at Peterlee Health Centre – including for vaccinations, health checks and screenings. Book with our reception team for appointments during 7am – 8am weekdays, 6.30pm – 8pm weekdays and 9am – 5pm Saturdays
  • For urgent care visit an urgent treatment centre – find a local urgent treatment centre, including its opening hours
  • Visit or contact a late-night pharmacy – find a local pharmacy, including its opening hours

  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.
