Alignment of Medication

What is an alignment?

An alignment of medication means all your regular medication can be organised so it all runs out at the same time. This would mean you only need to order every month or two when all your medications are due to run out.

How does it work?

You would collect an alignment form from the surgery and count up all the medication you have and record the name and figures on the sheet. Or you can submit the online alignment form, shown below. The pharmacy team will then give you enough supply of each medication to the match the medication you have the most of.

Are there any medicines that can’t be aligned?

Yes, any medications which are not taken with a regular dose every day.

  • Painkillers
  • Inhalers
  • Creams
  • Diabetic products
  • Appliances/wound products
  • Warfarin

What happens next?

Once the form has been submitted, you may receive a telephone call from our pharmacy team to discuss the alignment. If no call, then a text informing you that the alignment prescription has been completed and will be ready at your usual pharmacy in the next 3 days. As you run low of all your medications, you can order them all in your usual way
