IntraHealth is one of the UK’s leading providers of NHS Primary and Community Care services. We serve a range of patients across our three divisions of Primary Care (general practice), Pharmacy and Clinical Services which includes anticoagulation monitoring, patient medication reviews and childhood immunisation programmes.
We also provide management and clinical support to other GP practices and NHS bodies. We are a well-established organisation having provided NHS services since 1999. Our team is made up of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Nurses, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and local administration teams supported by a centralised back-office function, providing finance, HR, administration and data analysis support.
We operate NHS services across the North East, North West and Yorkshire.
We are looking for a forward- thinking, proactive GP to join our team at Hallgarth Surgery, situated in the heart of County Durham. We are a friendly and robust practice, working in the heart of Shildon, a quiet Northeast town with a strong railway heritage, situated less than 20 minutes from both Durham and Darlington. Our practice serves around 5,500 patients, with a range of chronic and acute problems – no one day is the same! Our patients are friendly, down to earth, and appreciate their local surgery, and the doctors who work in them.
We have one salaried GP, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 Vulnerable Adults Wrap Around Service (VAWAS) Nurse, and a range of other healthcare professionals. We are supported by a fantastic administration team led by our Practice Manager, which has a mix of youth, experience, and amazing baking skills. No GP can do their job without a great team behind them, and luckily at Hallgarth Surgery, we believe we have that.
We run a partial triage system, and encourage face to face appointments, allowing clinicians to decide and prioritise their work. We have same day appointments and allow reviews to be booked in advance. We respond to the needs of our patients and clinicians before deciding changes to our working. As a GP, we want you to have a say over how your clinics run. We also provide dedicated administration time allotted into your clinic time, to allow sufficient time to process referrals, blood tests, and paperwork.
We encourage you to develop your own skills within the practice, and would be happy to accommodate your interests in particular specialties i.e., Diabetes, Minor Surgery clinics, Teaching and Education etc. We have regular team meetings to encourage continuous learning, but also to create a harmonious team working environment, and allow troubleshooting of matters both great and small!
The practice has access to ready support through being part of a group of practices, with a head office in County Durham which provides Medical Director, clinical governance, and other back-office support functions.
